About the platform

Now, more than ever, there is a growing consensus of the interconnectedness of humankind and the natural world. The global pandemics, rising global temperatures due to climate change, as well as, increasing social and economic inequalities are just a few of the many examples on how our actions affect the world around us. Sustainable development requires long-term systems thinking that drives social and environmental prosperity for humanity. World leaders have now recognized that fact and set out a road map for future development of the planet under the umbrella of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) (2015-2030). These goals are an unprecedented commitment by leaders from around the globe to put sustainability as the overarching theme for human development encompassing the triple bottom line: economy, society and the environment.

Education plays a fundamental role in the achievement of these Goals by ensuring that educators and students acquire the knowledge, skills, and values needed to contribute to the rapid demand by society for sustainability competencies in the workplace, and across disciplines. This platform seeks to provide learners with a diverse database of course content on all 17 Sustainable Development Goals. On our platform you can find critical thinking exercises, links to external sources to explore topics in more detail, lesson plans for teachers, home exercises for students, and much more.  The creators of this platform hope you will use its content to obtain a more in depth understanding of the practical ideas and activities you can implement to help create the better, more just, more equal, and sustainable world we all hope for and want.

Courses on SDG Platform are offered free of charge with the support of partner organizations in an attempt to make education on topics that shape our future accessible for as many people as possible.
